Your Driving Review Roadmap

We understand that driving represents freedom, independence, and confidence. Our elderly driving review program is designed to thoughtfully evaluate seniors’ driving abilities while preserving dignity and supporting families through important transitions.

Here’s how our driving safety review process works:

 1. Cognitive Evaluation
We begin in the comfort of your home.
Through conversation and guided activities, we sit down with the individual to better understand their day-to-day routines and responsibilities. This allows us to assess:

  • Cognitive abilities
  • Decision-making skills
  • Memory and attention
  • Overall functional awareness

This provides a strong foundation for determining next steps.

 2. Road Skills Assessment (In Their Own Vehicle)
If it is deemed safe to proceed, we accompany the individual on familiar routes they regularly rely on.
During this drive, we evaluate:

  • Driver safety knowledge
  • Physical abilities
  • Reaction time
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Comfort and confidence behind the wheel

Our goal is to assess real-world driving performance in a supportive and respectful manner.

 3. Determination & Recommendations
After completing the review, we share our findings through:

  • A detailed written report
  • A thoughtful conversation with the individual and family

We may recommend:

  • Continued driving
  • Specific accommodations
  • A follow-up review
  • Gradual transition away from driving

Every recommendation is made with safety, independence, and dignity in mind.

 4. Future Planning
If driving becomes limited or concludes, we don’t stop there.
We work closely with families to create a plan that allows the individual to maintain as much independence as possible. This may include:

  • Transportation alternatives
  • Community resources
  • Lifestyle adjustments
  • Long-term planning support

Our mission is to ensure continued mobility, confidence, and quality of life.

Driving decisions can be emotional and complex. We are here to support families in Akron, Cleveland, and surrounding cities through every mile with compassion and dignity.

If you’re beginning to question whether driving changes may be affecting a loved one’s safety, our Senior Driving Reviews can help families navigate the conversation with clarity and compassion.
